What you may use this for
Everything on this site is free to use, for personal and commercial purposes, with no account, no usage cap and no attribution required. Test yourself, challenge a friend, run it in a classroom, use it on a livestream or at a team event. You do not need our permission and you do not owe us a credit.
Your results belong to you. We claim no rights over your reaction times, and since they never reach us, we could not claim them anyway.
What you may not use it for
Do not use the site for anything unlawful, and do not attempt to break, overload or republish it as your own service. Scraping the pages to build a clone is not what "free" is for.
Not medical advice, and not a diagnostic tool
The test measures how quickly you respond to a signal on the device in front of you. It is not a medical test, a clinical instrument, or a driving or fitness-for-work assessment, and nothing on this site is medical advice. A slow result does not mean something is wrong, and a fast one does not mean everything is fine: sleep, tiredness, caffeine, alcohol, medication, age, practice and plain distraction all move the number from one minute to the next.
If you are worried about your reactions, your coordination or how a medication affects you, talk to a doctor or another qualified professional rather than a web page.
Results vary by device
Every result includes delay from your mouse, keyboard or touchscreen, from your monitor and from your browser, and those differ from one device to the next. The test tells you what your screen’s refresh rate adds, but it cannot see input-device or monitor processing lag at all. Treat a comparison between two different setups as rough, and a comparison with your own earlier results on the same setup as the fair one.
No warranty
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We have taken the timing seriously — the press is timed on pointerdown, and the clock starts on the frame that draws the green — but a free web page is not a calibrated laboratory instrument, and we do not promise that any result is accurate to the millisecond.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site, including any decision taken on the strength of a result. The test gives you a number; what you do with it is yours.
Availability and changes
We may change, move or withdraw any part of the site at any time, and we do not guarantee it will be available without interruption. If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
